We are proud to announce that our very own Portola Coffee Lab was named the Roast magazine’s 2015 Micro Roaster of the Year! This is an international competition that represents the specialty coffee industry here and abroad.
Roast magazine developed this award to help inspire further excellence and success in the roasting industry. The Roaster of the Year was chosen based on the following criteria:
• Company Mission
• Company’s Commitment to Sustainable Practices
• Commitment to Employees and Educational Practices
• Quality of Coffee
• Commitment to and involvement in the industry
• Innovations in roasting, marketing and business practices
After being selected as a finalist, Portola Coffee lab was asked to submit three unique, roasted coffee samples to be judged on aroma, color, imperfections, bean size and a clean cup. The finalists’ coffees were then blindly judged by three separate professional tasting committees, who ultimately named Portola Coffee Lab as 2015 Micro Roaster of the Year.
